(comment/fave) [link] i almost drowned myself this weekend for the sake of getting a DVD and a year's subscription? Why you ask? Well not only was the tamborine zombie in Land of the Dead the most amazing character I have ever seen, but in the spirit of Halloween, it had to be done! What scares us the most? Well for me, spiders automatically came to mind. For ~Skeet, well he's fearless. But everybody dislikes spiders...so I thought deeper...thought of some of the most twisted things. Then strangely enough, i thought about my home town in Manitoba, Canada. That was it! Snow...ice...being frozen. And not just being frozen, but drowning...being trapped under a sheet of numbing ice. I can't imagine anything more horrific. Now...the concept seemed simple enough, take a picture of being trapped under ice. What do we use for ice? Easy...glass (infact we used the pane from our coffee table). Where do we take this shot? Easy again...the bathtub. Then the hard part came along...actuallly putting our ideas into action. We ran into so many problems that I wanted to pull my hair out. First of all, we couldn't fine a model crazy enough to let us shove them in water without air and under a potentially harmful sheet of glass - so our last resort was to shove me under water :blank: Not fair. Then came the lighting problem...which was easily fixed by using old desk lamps. Wait, a bathtub is too white to look like a frozen lake at night...so why not plaster the tub with black bags and tape? Ha ha. Since we used a longer exposure, and a tripod wouldn't fit over the tub (the glass had to go there) we had to tape an empty box of Fairy Laundry Soap to the flash to help steady the cam against the wall (it actually worked!) Now...where in the hell do you get snow in London?! Back home i could find it on every street corner...but here the only thing you will find on every street corner is a kabab shop and urine. After some careful thinking we decided to pass up the idea of fake snow and go for the real deal...so we got out some handy scrapers (actually butterknives) and went to town on the freezers in my house. I suited up into my sexy white bikini, moaned about how cold the water in the tub was, and under I went...but I didn't account for how much water would be swallowed! i never relised how hard it is to pose under water...let alone with a sheet of glass weighing down on your entire body. ~Skeet quickly piled on the 'snow' and started snapping. By far the hardest shoot I have ever done. No manipulations. Enjoi -B xoxo Daily DeviationGiven 2005-11-13Chilled Fear by =celebrity is rather...chilling? Wonderfully executed and with some great tones of blue. (Suggested by `Ghouldaddy and Featured by `suzi9mm) |

It was great to read about how it was done.

Crazy yes.
SUcky, yes.
